Line: a moving dot
Shape: space enclosed by a line- 2 dimensional
Geometric shapes: shapes with clear definitions
Organic shapes: free form
Form: 3 dimensional-have volume
Space: a sense of depth in your composition
Value: areas of light (tints) and dark (shades)
Texture: how a surface feels or appears to feel
Color: 3 important terms:
Hue-another word for color
Value-areas of light and dark
Intensity-brightness and dullness
6 color schemes:
Monochromatic-values of one color
All shades and tints of blue in a painting
Complimentary-opposite on the color wheel, increases intensity
Purple/yellow, red/green, orange/blue
Analagous-3 colors next to each other on the color wheel
Red, red orange, orange
Triadic-form a triangle on color wheel, primary and secondary
Red/yellow/blue or orange/green/purple
Warm-associate with heat
red orange yellow
Cool-associate with ice
Blue green purple
